She did some soul-searching in 2015 before deciding to make some major life changes. Katie was forced to relocate in order to begin a new chapter in her life. She got lucky and got a job offer that sounded like the answer to her problems.

Katie eventually made the decision to move to Denver, Colorado. She began working in the commercial construction industry there. On paper, her job title was integrated service manager for GE Johnson, a construction company.

She felt optimistic about this plan of hers. She also paid for a 4-bedroom property that others might call a fixer-upper. “The house I bought would require extensive work to transform into my vision and most of which I would have to do myself in order to afford it,” she said.

As a result, when Hannah asked Katie to do her hair, Katie gladly obliged! “Today was one I dreamed about and have waited for. Miss Hannah wanted her hair curled just like mamas… and she sat so still and patiently for me (which is VERY hard for a 2 yo) while I curled her hair. I know it marks the first of many of these moments (I pray) in which we get to have special mama daughter moments,” Katie wrote.

Grayson had decided that he was too big to sleep in his crib any longer, so it was time for him to upgrade to a big boy bed! Katie made certain to get him a nice one, and he has expressed an interest in sleeping in it. Grayson’s new bed was, however, a little difficult to get to. Katie, on the other hand, considered the bed to be a success. She went so far as to post this on Instagram: “I think it’s safe to say the toddlers like Grayson‘s new big boy bed… Or at least the bed we are trying to convert Grayson into since he’s decided the crib is no longer an option.”

Anyone with a large family knows how difficult it is to get everyone together for a family photo. It can be a real struggle at times! So, kudos to Katie for pulling it off! She was so ecstatic about her achievement that she couldn’t help but brag about it on social media. “And I snagged the second photo of all five of us almost a year after the first… I will take what I can get and always keep my promise not to show my guy’s face (thank goodness he’s SO tall). Grateful for this crazy crew of mine! Note: we even all match for a Sunday service… he’s a keeper for not finding my love of coordinating outfits with my kids annoying. He showed up at the house this morning dressed in camo shorts before any of us were dressed… so not much he could do when I coordinated around his outfit.”

Katie’s natural inclination toward motherhood is undeniable. She was enamored with her children. She was filled with pride and gratitude at every turn.
