Epcot

Epcot stands for “Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow” and was supposed to be an urban area that would act as the backdrop for the newest developments in urban life. Disney himself led this effort, but the experimental plans were eventually abandoned after he passed away in December 1966. Disney World went on to be more similar to Disneyland than what he originally had in mind.

His Vision

Disney was not around to see his vision for Disney World become a reality. On top of that, the Magic Kingdom, the first area of the park to launch, was inaccessible to the public before 1971. Epcot came next 11 years after that. Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom became accessible in 1989 and 1998, respectively. Even if it did not pan out as planned, there is no denying the fact that Disney World is a success. The park welcomes more visitors than other holiday resorts each year!
