The Door Was Locked
The man wearing a hat did not stop knocking on the door for a few minutes, but then, his knocks stopped. Savannah Jones felt relieved, but it was only for a few seconds. Savannah was shocked when the doorknob started to rattle. It was evident that the man wanted to get inside the house, but thankfully, the door was locked. Then, the knocking continued, but this time, the knocks had been louder. The man outside was persistent about getting in.

Savannah Jones felt her heart skip a beat and leaped into her throat. She knew that the man desperately wanted to get inside, and it would only take a few more minutes before he could finally get in. The 14-year-old felt trapped and frantic because Savannah did not know what she could do. Savannah was worried that the man was going to burst through the door, and she had to think fast. Savannah carried Zoyee and sprinted down the hallway, all the way to the master bedroom. But the girl was a little hesitant and worried if they would be safe there.
